Hi. Can anyone suggest a good bike rack (on the rear of the car) for just 1 bike?

Was interested in the Saris Bones but that seems to get a few dodgy reviews.

    Thanks.

    Zak.

I'd go for one of the plastic saris racks if I was getting one now... I use a 20 year old Hollywood rack and its the best I've come across. I have had bad and almost catastrophic experience with halfords brand rack.

I have a Saris Bones 2 and haven't had any problems with it at all. It folds small enough when not in use, and is very easy to fit and use.

I have a bones 3 and like its good but you need to be careful tightening the bolts.

I bought the single bones recently and its brilliant, seconds to mount and so small and lightwieght! Highly recommend one of these:

I was thinking of the Saris bones 2 but it is so much more expensive than the single Bones.

There have been mixed reviews about the single bones, hence my caution. Does it keep the bike stable? Do you need some bungee cord to stop the bike moving around? (some reviews mention this as a problem)

    Thanks for input all.

I would suggest bungees with any bike rack!

I don't use any bungees on mine and the bike stays put well enough. There are 3 straps holding the bike onto the rack so it's not going anywhere. I do use the loose ends of the straps on one side to tie the front wheel to the frame to keep it from turning, but also the end straps are quite long and I don't want them flapping against the car when I'm going along
