Pretty good offer from the Irish watch company Telstar - the watch featured on their front page drops by €5 each day until someone buys it: http://www.telstarwatches.ie/

Is it just branded chinese stuff?

They have watches that looks exactly like this in Dealz, Blanchardstown. I think they were €1.49 each which is a fair price for a Chinese nickel-plated timepiece

Actually the watch I got is stainless steel, not nickel-plated like you suggested skinsuit. Says so on the site - check your facts dude! Mine has a nice 'weight' to it - you can tell it is steel. Also the guarantee that comes with it shows that Telstar is an Irish company (based in Shannon) - check their site: http://www.solatrex.com/. After I bought the watch on telstarwatches.ie I got an option to choose an Irish jeweller for after-sales service.

I can see why you wouldn't want to buy one of the 'Chinese' watches you mentioned as a gift though skinsuit - it would be pretty embarrassing to have one of those stop the day after Christmas!

Dunno what happened with that link over the weekend Kristopherus / djkeogh but I had a look now and it seems to be working.

Yeah dunno why it is saying expired - maybe an admin changed the status when the link wasn't working over the weekend or something? Or is there something that I should do as the OP to keep it 'unexpired'?

    Obvious shill is obvious.

Yeah, come on. This is just junk and shill is obvious.

Im all for in-Ireland business and buying local, but these just seem and look like cheap chinese knock offs.

This makes no sense at all.
The watch starts off at €100 and drops €5 a day 'till someone buys it.

Its currently at €55, so they haven't sold a single watch on this website (or via the facebook page) for 9 days.
If they can't convince anyone else to buy a single watch in 9 days, why the hell would readers of a bargain alerts forum be interested?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,339 ✭✭✭✭LoLth

hmmmm, both watches (the same ones!) were €55 when I looked last time as well - back when the thread was first posted. maybe someone bought them 9 days ago for €30 each...or 14 days ago for 55 and then again 5 days later for 75 and now they are 55 again... maybe....

It's dropped to 50... so think it might be legit!

Still - it's obvious that OP is associated with the website in some way.

Eh lads - check your facts - look at my other posts on boards.ie. Obviously not spam - I've been a member for a good while and my other posts are about the intricacies of mortgages and IT setups, not watches or any other products.

9 days ago it was €100, 8 days ago €95, etc. It is a bargain now because it costs 45% less than it did 9 days ago and I think the quality is good for that price. I'm gonna leave this thread now because people can take this or leave it if they don't think it is a bargain (personally I think some of the other stuff on the bargain alerts forum isn't a bargain but the stuff I think isn't might be a bargain to someone else. Likewise with ye - this might not look like a bargain to you but to someone else it could). Personally I think €55 for the quality of these is a pretty good deal, if you don't - fine.

What a crap website. Is it just me or does the "Buy Now" button not work? I guess Im the first person brave enough to try it! No details on what you are buying either.

I'm amazed the mods have let this shilling by the op continue

just checked there and buy button doesn't work, even on watches that aren't reduced. I wonder how they ever sold one and the price went back up - surely it should read €0
