How to find therapist RIGHT FOR YOU??

How does a client find the therapist that's RIGHT FOR THEM???

I'm not talking about looking down lists of accredited therapists.

I feel that finding the right therapist is a bit like finding your soulmate!!!

Someone that you trust, that can enter into your world, that will support you, that will help you grow.

So, any ideas on how to find THAT person!!!

    Many thanks.

This keeps coming up again and again, so here's a compendium of previous replies to similar posts:

QUESTIONS TO ASK A THERAPIST/COUNSELLOR YOU ARE THINKING OF USING:

It's generally recommended that you ask any counsellor/pyschotherapist a few questions on the phone.
    What are your qualifications?
    Have you much experiience?
Do you specialise in any particular area?
Do you take a particular approach (humanistic, Jungian etc)?
Where is their practice? (Some will use their own home, some an office on Main St.)

Get a feel for them on the phone, and remember that the first appointment is not just for them to see if they can help, it is for you to see if you can get on with them. DO NOT BE SHY about asking the questions - if they've been doing their job for any length of time they'll be used to it, and will be open and not defensive.
