The advanced is better, the Basic is good though as well.

Hi - just wondering has anyone had any experience of this - only drawback on paper seems the MIPS chip ?

Novo has discontinued the Advanced. Watch out for the replacement due very soon, Novo Elf. Will have improved screen, better battery life, and run Ice Cream Sandwich (aka Android 4.x)

Ohh, not just one model, Novo/Ainovo/Ainol are going bananas with new models.. Have a look here:

    http://www.android-hilfe.de/ainol-novo-7-forum/182656-neue-ainol-novo-7-tablets-2012-a.html

The Advanced, seemingly, will make a comeback, albeit at a slightly higher price..

Pity the hardware buttons have been removed though. I always prefer hardware buttons for the basic Android functions. I realise it is a seen as 'unnecessary' by some, with the latest versions of Android, but there's a lot to be said for just pressing at the side of the frame, as opposed to activating the screen and reaching for a specific area.

Here's the home site with new CES announcements too.

..about buying what's already out there.

Have a good Google for for the MIPS Paladin tablet, the price varies a lot, weigh up against a European purchase, at close to €110-120 (with or without P&P), with no risk, against an Asian purchase at about $95, that might get hit by customs..

Ainol NOVO Elf came out on Monday. Several of the larger Chinese sellers have it priced @ the $155 mark.

    ## I'm not endorsing any of the following links - use at your peril ##

    Beware, see >> eamonnq's post below >> http://chinagrabber.com/ainol-novo-7-elf-android-4-0-ics-capacitive-cortex-a10-tablet-pc---novo7-elf.aspx

    Beware, see >> eamonnq's post below >> http://gadgetgreats.com/ainol-novo-7-elf-tablet-pc---ips-capacitive-a10-android-4-0---novo7-elf.aspx

The last link above seem to be drop shipping, buyer beware! Not in Europe.

Swings and roundabouts. One less speaker grill and one less camera than the NOVO Advanced, but a decent width screen resolution, 1024x600 and double the internal memory.

Interestingly, the tablet has bluetooth apps, but no definite availability of it in the hardware specs.

I was waiting for a fairly normal width resolution. 1024 hits the spot.

Ainol AURORA to follow soon, next 4 weeks or so.. videos already online, seems to be a souped up Elf, with an IPS screen and a faster processor.

I can see this brand putting a big dent into the market share Archos has built for itself. The above tablets handle HD content perfectly.

I would advise anyone considering buying one of these to steer well clear of Chinagrabber and their sham forum.

After my experience with them I would not buy ANYTHING off them, even if they were cheaper than other sites!

I have been looking for a while and have seen this,

    http://gadgetgreats.com/cube-u9gt2-tablet-pc---android-4-0-ips-9-7-capacitive-16gb.aspx

similar to one called a 'visture' on another site. Has anyone had a change to test it out or do the specs look good.

Looks like Chinagrabber and these are one and the same, so I would not touch them with a barge pole!!

A thread here about them, but apparently they are well known for this sort of thing on other forums as well.

Their 'own forum' scam is a very well worked idea though, anybody looking for help with issues with their products post on there (instead of on other forums) and then when they realise that the real problem is that they sold you a pile of crap, the forum admins ban you and stop you from posting any bad stuff about their products on there. Apparently it has been working like this for years, but there are always a few new ones getting caught up in it (like I was!!).

The forum has a link to 'official sellers' but that is just links to websites that are also run by Chinagrabber, so even if you pick a different seller than Chinagrabber, they are still behind it (and getting the money!!).

Cheers for the heads up eamonnq, I'm about to buy the Ainol Elf, so, I'll mooch about for a reliable trader. McBub and Pandawill 'seem' ok.

Just to say, the Ainol Aurora and Ainol Wizard are on sale now, also. I thought it would be a staggered sale, but it seems to be everything at once.

I love the 7 inch Ainol series. They remind me of the first Samsung Galaxy tab. I'm sick of the silver frame on all the other models and brands.

I just need a web browser and a 720P\DVD Rip capable tablet, along with a relatively useful 1024 width resolution. I was that close (pinches fingers), to buying a Lenovo A1, but Quadrant test videos on YouTube show it to be quite limited.

Is this the aPadTV forum? The whole atmosphere feels a bit 'Chinese' all right but there are some really good contributors.

Yep, but just watch what happens to the guys who post about problems that can't get solved.

I was being careful on there and tried not to post anything too bad (in order to avoid giving them a reason to ban me), but I then got banned 'for no specific reason' (that was the reason given).

Thread there about them as well.
