Luck, RGIII, Richardson, Ball and the Honey Badger.

    Who's your pick?

I think it's pretty certain RGIII gets it, but I would prefer to see Mathieu win. Defensive players are criminally over looked.

Who will win the Heisman trophy? 41 votes

    Montee Ball
Trent Richardson is the form player for me, the only other person I'd give it to would be Andrew Luck and that'd be more of an acknowledgment of his talent and consistency throughout his college career than him being the best performing player this season.

    Tyrann Mathieu
Have to say one guy who is over looked is Montee Ball. Dude was a TD machine this year and having come into the season knowing he needed to drop pounds to be effective he did so and has outscored all of his opponent RB. 1759 yards 32 TDs and 6.4 ypc. Also has 255 yards receiving and 6 TDs. The nearest person to him for TDs on the ground is Colin Klein a QB.

    Robert Griffin III
I think the hype machine behind Luck gives him a great shot at it, and he wouldnt exactly be an unworthy winner, I would be hard pressed myself between RG3 and Trent... tbh you could make a case for all the nominees so im just gonna sit on the fence for a bit :)

    Montee Ball
    Richardson would get my vote

    Trent Richardson
RG3 without a doubt, scary numbers and delivered for Baylor consistently throughout the season.

    Robert Griffin III
I think Trent Richardson will get it.

Would have liked to see Matt Barkley at least on the list.

    Trent Richardson
I hope Griffin gets it. His performances throughout the year have been unbelievable. Much like Luck over the course of the last few years Griffin has made his school produce like never before. His stats are immense and with the talent level around him to achieve what he has is nothing short of magnificent but three losses and the lack of a BCS bowl might count against him

I think Richardson will get it but if I had a vote it would be for the Honey Badger. Its a long time since the last defenseive player won it.

at this stage they need to award it to the best player or change the name to the Heisman Best QB or RB award.

technically I should vote for Richardson but Im going to vote for the Honoey Badger. Power of postivie thinking and all that :D:D

I would want Trent Richardson..I'm Crimson all the way..however after seeing the Final Heisman Pundit.com Poll in the paper this morning..looks like:

    #1 Robert Grffin lll(32)
    #2 Andrew Luck (23)
    #3 Trent Richardson (10)
    #4 Monte Ball (6)
    #5 Trrann Mattiieu (4)

    Trent Richardson
I'm hopeing that Griffin gets it but I really do think its going to be Richardson with the QB favouring voters getting split. The Honeybadger would be my second choice.

In reality Monte Ball should be at least ahead of Trent. IMO he should win. On stats Ball should win V Richardson, I'd have him ahead of Richardson every day of the week. I read somewhere that the average defense Richardson has come up against ranks 40 places lower than Montee Ball.

The guy can even throw the ball FFS.

Ball may hav better stats however if Trent Richardson played in the Big 10...

    (SEC is a tougher conference)

    Roll Tide!

Stats arent really the be all and end all. If they were he heisman would be won by a QB from Boise, Houston or Hawaii every year.

I can see it now Heisman roll of honour, Tommy Chang, Colt Brennan, Case Keenum, Jared Zabransky etc etc

Heisman puts a lot of stock (wrongly in my opinion) on the overall teams record and also takes the stength of opposition into account.

Thats why I think they go with Richardson to get it over Ball or RG3. I dont think Richardson was the best player in college ball this year but then again Id argue the Heisman only goes to the ebst player half the time anyway.

It's also pretty silly that the Heisman winner is announced before the bowl games. With so little between Richardson and Griffin, a big performance from Richardson versus LSU could be enough to seal it - it's still part of this season. Similarly if Mathieu puts in another MVP performance in the championship game, I think it should propell him to best in the country.

Griffin wins it! Great to see a small school player win thee trophy. Best player in the nation this year and an incredibly deserving winner

I never post much with college but this year it's been fap fap with RG3. Yes, I'm delighted.:)

Well done to Griffin, defintely deserved it.

Montee Ball was snubbed big time though. He's on course to break the NCAA TD record and that leads him to 4th in the Heisman voting and runner up in the Doak Walker award? All because he doesn't play in the SEC.

Question: why is he called "The Honey Badger"?

The honey badger is one of the most badass creatures on the planet, and it's often been said that it just takes what it wants, which is Mathieu's exact attitude to football. The fans started calling him it, then the coaches brought it up in a team meeting and now it's just stuck. This is the original famous honey badger video, which is why people are so aware of this awesome creature:

You have to appreciate that the Heisman trophy predates (by a long way) post regular season games being considered when deciding a national champion. It used to be that the final AP Poll would be released after the last regular season games in November, and the bowls were merely incidental extras - a nice junket to warmer pastures during the harsh winter for everyone involved. The Heisman exists in that context, it's objective is to honour the most outstanding player of the regular season, nothing more.

In any case, RGIII was clearly the correct choice.
