Don't know if this is the right place. Mods feel free to move if there is somewhere more suitable.

Is it possible to claim tax back on flights booked but due to unforeseen circumstances, will not be used? The flights are with Aerlingus ex Dublin to a European destination.

    Many thanks

Yes. Tax refund requests must be made within one month from the booked travel date. Aer Lingus will charge an administration fee of €20 per person, per one-way flight. However, credit card/debit card or baggage fees will not be reimbursed.

Is it only tax that can be claimed back ? I am in a similar situation booked with ryanair to a european destination and won t be using the flights. I paid 100 euro ant thought maybe if i cancelled might get a small amount back .Might be wishful thinking with ryanair !

The air-fare portion will not be refunded. Ryanair charges a €20 administration fee per passenger, per one way flight or €40 return.

What did the agency say when you contacted them ?

    Hi,

Is it better to cancel a flight before hand or just not turn up? Can you still claim the tax back on this flight?

    Thanks,
