Did a brew on Friday last...cooper apa.....i think i did everything by the book but nothing seems to be happening....no bubbles in the bubbler, no krausen forming.....just looks like flat beer with a slight head in there....couldn't be finished yet.....its in the press under the stairs sitting on a block of insulation with a vivarium heater underneath iy and a fleece jacket around it. ambient temp in the press is 15c but when I leave the thermometer lying on top of the fermented its giving anything from 21 to 26c depending on the whether the heating is on on the house. I haven't got a hydrometer yet so don't know the gravity.
the worth temp is 22c....any suggestions?

Was it doing anything over the weekend? It is doubtful that it would finish fermenting so early but depending on how good your yeast is, it might be starting to settle down.

Get a hydrometer. If the gravity isn't changing, pitch more yeast.

Just an update.....had a couple of bottles on Christmas night....they were nice enough but still a bit harsh...I'm having a couple are the moment and there is a huge difference....oddly though, the two on Christmas night were in swing tops (brand new) but tonights were crown capped....would that make any difference or is time the reason?

time is a brews best friend. i find about 4-6 weeks then beer hits a peak and stays steady. Ive had brews that i made and drank a year after and they are much the same as after 4-6 weeks. Unless you make a real strong brew....
