Buying an engagement ring in London

    Hi folks,

    Little bit of info for anyone planning on buying an engagement ring in London or that is living in London (there seems to be more arriving every week!)

    I recently purchased an engagement ring from Blue Nile online. Great service but unfortunately my now fiance did not like the setting. Luckily, Blue Nile have a 100% refund policy so I sent it back. I visited a few diamond dealers in Hatton Gardens and I found that there is one Irish owned place called Voltaire Diamonds that have just set up a London office (I am originally from Ireland by the way!).

    We met with a lady there called Sarah and I have to say the experience was fantastic. Sarah showed us a wide range of loose diamonds and explained all about the 4 C's etc. We were then shown a wide selection of ring styles. Here is probably where there is most value add versus Blue Nile as I think the woman really needs to try on a ring before she knows what suits her. Thankfully my fiance found the "one" and it was ready 1 week later. The savings were significant versus alternative suppliers in Hatton Gardens (most of whom were 20% above Blue Nile prices).

    So good experience all round and as I am an Irish person living in London, there is also the added satisfaction that you are helping the economy back home!!
