You will tend to check (a) Will the cables match up to an Irish connection? (b) Is there an issue with the number of lines on the TV screen?

The issue the OP will have is signing up for services. The licensing agreement between (e.g.) Netflix and the movie studios is territory based so he will have to use a US iTunes account which means either buying US Dollar iTunes vouchers or using a credit card registered to a US address.

I don't think he will have any h/w issues.

Surely the device will just offer what is available through their own iTunes account?

Depends on which iTunes a/c you use, if it's an Irish one you'll probably get Youtube and feck all else. If you open a US iTunes a/c and logon you'll get a helluva lot more but paying for the services will be an issue without iTunes US vouchers or a US credit card.

It's no problem, I have US itunes account and i'm using an ulster bank debit visa card, no problems so far. I mostly use the apple tv to stream from iMac or MacBook, it's handy for that.

Irish iTunes accounts can now rent movies although it's a smaller selection. Netflix is coming in Q1 2012. the other difference is us accounts get MLB scores.

Apple tv uses a standard figure of 8 plug so swapping that costs €2 max.

I've had an American apple tv since launch in the states and there's no doubt it's one of the nicest devices I have hooked up to my tv.

Bah should have posted this under my personal account. Not arsed deleting and reposting :pac:

How are you using an Ulster Bank card with a US iTunes account?

I still don't understand. There is only the option of registering a US credit card.

I have an MLB option on my ATV2, it just requires an MLB.com account I thought (which I was going to get).
