Thinking of getting this phone for Christmas. Think this is the offer with Meteor.. Pay €229 and bill pay of €30 a month. In this I get 200 mins, 200 texts, 1gb of data and free texts and calls to meteor. Is this an offer worth taking? I usually spend €20 on pay as you go a month with meteor. This is just free texts to all networks. For an extra tenner I will be getting the Internet and calls too. I have a Galaxy Europa so I am used to the android phone. Should I avail of this offer???

For not much more I think you'd get the new Galaxy Nexus. I'm in the same situation as you though, trying to decide.

How long is the contract? I got a brand new S2 on adverts for 350, still sealed. Got the €15 per month meteor offer listed here and you have a 1 month rolling contract with the same benefits.

Definitely the phone best phone ever but i wouldn't recommend Meteor to anyone the worst customer service in Ireland, when my credit runs out im gone, good luck trying to actually get through to them, an hour and a half on hold.......

I think it may be an 18 month contract actually.

Ya id say 18 month contract. I am not sure if I am going to get a better deal. I would like to get it for 150 but no way am I paying 40/50 euro a month after. Cant imagine myself being given an offer like the one you got. Also to another poster I dont find anything wrong with meteor. Just couldnt see myself changing to 3, vodafone or O2

Over 18 months the rolling contract / finding your own phone is 620. Over the same period yours is 769.

    Tesco have some offers too.

€15 per month online offer with meteor. 350 for the phone I bought on adverts.

    (15*18)+350=620

To be honest I would prefer to buy it in the shop. Is it 100% reliable on adverts. Also, with the contract do you have to keep the phone for 18 months or can you change phone and continue paying by bill for whats left over.

    hey guys

looking at getting the galaxy S 2 myself on meteor. 219 if you buy online and 25€ per month on the 18 month contract. 200 mins, 200 texts and free meteor calls and texts and 1gb data. It's a good deal and I'd be happy to pay it, only problem is I may be leaving the country to do a masters in September. Don't wana have to spend €25 for 9 months if I'm barely if ever using the phone (just when visiting home and that).

I'm not 100% sure I'm going this september yet, i havent been accepted yet but it is the general plan.

Anyone got any ideas how I can save myself money?

    Thanks

    Simon

What kind of deal does Carphone Warehouse offer for 12 month? Can't find anything on their site. Meteor offer the same deal that costs €25 over 18 months for €35 over 12. Not worth it really.

Why don't you just buy one on adverts? I got one for 300 sealed locked to Vodafone, unlocked it and I'm just on my 20E a month for texts to any network on meteor with 50mb per day for 69c. It's fairly straight forward unlocking the phone yourself too.

If you use your phone for calls though it means you're paying €40 per month considering you use the net daily. It's probably gonna work out much more expensive over a year. It's an idea though, if I don't call anyone I can probably get away with around €20 a month on credit or just over

If you go carphone warehouse they offer 12 month contract. Then go to meteor say to them you got it cheaper and they will match it.

I got a discount off the price.

What is carphone warehouses 12 month contract though? Is it similar to meteors 18 month? Meteor offer €35 per month on 12 month but sure thats no good

Meteor wont give you a 12 month contract unless you to carphone warehouse.
Of course its no use to you as your not going be here for full year. Thats the shortest contract you can get.
I got the phone for same price as a 18 month contract on a 12 month at 35 a month

With 3 if you top up by €20 you get free any network texts, free any network calls at weekends, free 3 to 3 calls and unlimited internet. Much better prepay deal IMO.

As for the OP I got my SII on a 12 month contract with Meteor back in July I think it was. I'm paying 30 euro a month and I havent ever gone over the 200 minutes and texts as I still have my free Meteor calls and texts but the 1GB of data can be problematic at times. I try to use Wi-Fi as much as I can as I've gone over my allowance 2 or 3 times before. Overall though it is a good deal for a class phone!

oh right i see.. you don't save much money though I think it's like €30 in total.. I'd prefer to know I could have a phone for another six months at that price.. Even if I do go abroad at least I can use the sim when visiting home with no extra charges
