Not being paid full wages

    Hey everyone,

I began working for a nightclub in September, and have worked around 10 hours a week since, sometimes more. My wage is ten euro an hour, but I noticed most weeks I would be paid around 78 euro. I thought I was being taxed, and since I'm a student, I thought I could claim it back. By the way, my manager who sorts my wages has always been weird about giving me my payslips. She's supposed to email them to us, but I wasn't getting them and neither was my friend from work. I asked her about this a few times but she maintained she was emailing them to me. She said to check my spam etc. but they're not there. I had been sent three out of the eleven weeks, and all three were from weeks where I was paid the full amount I was due.

So today I went to the revenue office to hand in a form she gave me and I asked about my tax. They said I haven't been taxed at all since I began. I'm completely clueless about what to do now. I've texted her and asked for my most recent payslip and told her what they said and about my pay, no reply.

Just wondering does anyone know what explaination there could be and if you think it sounds odd? Not sure am I just being completely paranoid

Looks like you're being conned by your manager. Maybe she is keeping the extra money for herself.

Tell her that the revenue told you to check with your employer (her) and get back to them. If the matter is not sorted (i.e you don't get back the money you are owed), they (Revenue commisioners) will begin an investigation.

    It's pretty clear what's happening.

You're getting paid €7.80 cash in hand [per hour ... mod note, added this for clarity], your employer is making illegal deductions and is not remitting income tax.

Yeah. that's the net effect for the OP. But it's odd that there are payslips some weeks and not others.

I reckon the manager is skimming off the wages here, somehow. Maybe claiming the hours were worked by a fictitious employee, or suchlike and pocketing the difference.
