just wondering how old the technology you use is.
to keep it simple - i'm talking about when the most recently introduced camera you commonly use hit the market.
so for me, according to wikipedia, my D300 (my newest camera) was introduced in august 2007.

just follows from a chat i had with some of the guys here in work about needing the latest and greatest.

when was your most recent camera introduced? 43 votes

F100, introduced 1999, though I probably use my FE-2 more, and it was introduced in 1983 ...

40D: August 2007. I've had it just over a year, think I'm the third owner.

interesting that 16 votes in, there are as many in the three years 2005 to 2007 as there are in the four years since.
i wonder if that's reflected in DSLR sales in general.

My Sony A77 is the one I use the most, and it was only introduced this October. I won't be replacing it for quite a while (although certainly, digital bodies aren't going to be hanging around living productive lives for as long as film bodies were/are).

Daire: Where did you pick up the F100 and hows it going for you? I'm very tempted to get one. Or an F5 seeing as I get a bit paranoid with cameras and even the lightest drops of drizzle.

I actually got it in Conns. I probably paid a little over the odds for it but they offer a 6 month guarantee so horses for courses, and they threw in the larger grip/battery pack when I balked initially at the price ( 300 )

They had an F5 for a little more at the time but I plumped for the F100, It's a lot more carryable than the F5 is. I never really worry drizzle wise about it, it's all rubberised, I'm sure it's ok in that regard. Though that said I do pine over the F5 a little. I have an F4 so an F5 would have been a nice addition :-)

    -edit-

Incidentally, just looking there, they have an n90s (F90x) for 99 quid. That's an absolute steal. It's about 99% of the camera that the F100 is.

D7000 - 2010. Although I still use my D80 when I want a second lense without swapping. And tomorrow I will pick up an F5 - have a hankering to try film and nearly all my lenses will work with the F5.

There's an F5 going on Donedeal at the moment. €450 for it, a D1x and some filters and stuff. Not a bad price for the lot, especially if you could put the D1x to some use. Maybe converting it to IR?

Thanks Buceph. But I will be paying a lot less than ¬450 :-)

If I want infra red I will convert my D80 - I know its only a DX but its lightweight and 10+ MP.

Update: - Picked up the F5 for 150 euro. Now I got to figure out how to use it!

The serial number of the camera I've been using most in the past year suggests it was manufactured in 1988, otherwise, the newest camera I own was manufactured in 2008.

On an unrelated note, it's a pity the poll is anonymous. I want to know who the two people are who put in 1970's cameras as their main users :)

2005 is the date of Canon EOS 5D. I've got it in 2007. Nothing newer. Only older, back to sixties and fifties.
