    Can anyone help with this?
With Tiger coming back to form a few of us were talking about golf bets in the pub last night.
One of the lads said Tiger use to be money on to win major tournaments when he was at his best. I dont think he was.
I cant recall this at all. I remember him being something like 2/1 or 9/4 but not money on. Am I right or wrong?

Cant remember him being odds on for Majors, definelty has been for the likes of the Chevron. I remember him winning the the Open at Liverpool a few years ago at 4/1 with Ladbrokes and that was a huge price that year. He left the driver in the bag for the week as there wasnt a breath of air.

He was never odds on for any tournament that I can remember.
I remember him below 2/1 all right, for certain low grade, small field events but never odds on pre tournament or am I wrong?

Never odds on for a major. Be knocking around around 4/1 would have been the norm. There was a time when he ended up winning 7 consecutive pga tour titles and his price was getting cut week by week accordingly. From say 3/1 5/2/ 9/4 7/4 . I think he went off towards the end of that run at something like 5/4. Thats basically the bookies closing the book on him. He becomes a lay price. But to answer your question I have never seen him go off odds on in any ranking tournament.

Thanks for the replies folks. Sums up what I was thinking, just didn't have anyone to back me up in the pub last night.

he went off a shade of odds on (4/5, 10/11) for some events with smaller fields, but I think the shortest he was for a major was about 11/8 or 6/4

He was 6/4 for the masters one year. I was still in school and put €100 on him with ladbrokes, was absolutely bricking it but he won. I felt like the king of the world collecting my winnings! I think it was 2002. That's the shortest price I remember him.

With the normal golf tournie been 156 players and the masters around 96 with 30 ex winners amateurs etc i reckon he was at his shortest in the masters.
Gambling on golf is for laying........You have 1 they have 155........

Think the confusion may have been about now you could back Tiger to win a major, two majors this seaon etc

For Tiger to win one major or more would def been odds on every year unto 2009
