    Hi Guys

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but would love to get a quick sweep of what your experinces are of both, if you've used both and changed from either one? We're moving soon and want a basic enough package, the discovery channels, sports and the few extras like hallmark etc. We would also like internet and as I currently use eircom would like to have it as an all inclusive, one bill for the 2 services.

So in total we'd like the tv and internet access. He's talking about getting a hard drive to download movies and said we'll need a fixed phone line for this. I'd prefer not to have a landline as I don't need the expence of line rental.

The area we're moving to is quite settled and I would think it's a 50/50 for ntl and sky but as we don't know the neighbours yet we'd like to have it ordered before we move in as we've heard it can take a few weeks.

    Thanks :-)

Sky for TV and UPC for broadband gives you the best of both worlds.Sky has a much better range of channels and is a superior tv service but UPC has the best broadband in the country.

If you can't get UPC broadband then try Vodafone for fixed line broadband as they don't charge extra for line rental.

If you want an all-inclusive service, you need UPC as Sky don't supply phone/broadband here. Zerks makes some good points, however.

Never had Sky, but have had UPC. TV package is ok, all usual stations plus Discovery, Living etc, see their web site.

Always found them good to deal with, which a lot of people will find strange. Any problems always sorted fairly quickly, not that that they had to be called out that much.

For cost reasons, dropped their tv package and installed my own, but kept the broadband, 25megs, and their phone and am happy with that.

UPC's channel list is grand, but the software in their box is lousy in comparison..

UPC's EPG is brutal in comparison to Sky. The hardware response times are slow and sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own. A Sky package also comes with access to Sky Go, which can be used on your laptop, Smartphone or Xbox. Its an excellent service that almost warrants a subscription on its own.

But on the broadband side, UPC are streets ahead of the competition and very competitively priced.

From someone who has had experience of both tv services, I would have to say Sky is better for tv. Have heard UPC are quite good for broadband and phone though.
