have a recipe for red enchillado sauce, its american and says to use two 5 oz cans of tomato sauce, 5oz is only about 150 ml so maybe they mean tomatoo puree, or would that be too rich, maybe they mean passata? im not sure, does anyone know.

    Thanks

American tomato sauce is close to passata, but slightly cooked in a bit of oil so it's less raw tasting, and with a little salt (and sometimes other herbs). Passata is a good substitute in a cooked recipe, just adjust the seasonings if necessary.
