Anyone been to this before? Outside of ticket how much does it usually cost approx?

I'm guessing Soundgarden are the second headliners, but are Linkin Park the third?

I was really hoping Sabbath would be announced for this given that they seem to have a few days off when this is on and are playing in Germany anyway a couple of days after it.

Still holding out for Mastodon as well.

The 3 headliners are Linkin Park , Die Toten Hosen and Metallica

nah don't think so, rock am ring might sell out end of march-ish, might be able to get rock im park tickets still in april/may. I think they do update the festival website to say <however many> tickets left coming closer to the time. If I'm going which I probably will, I won't be getting tickets for a while.

Rock Am Ring always sells out - but rock am park dont think so.

Usually by early March it is sold out - i live about 90 mins from it and is great. Bring in your own litre of vodka/rum with you. But not very tolerant to smoke in that part of Germany...

Does anyone here know if dundrum gift cards can be used on aer lingus so to avoid the booking charge on cred card?

Was also reminded of best way to get there. Fly to munich, then get the bayer card which allows 5 people on a train within bavaria for one day for €25.

I don't think they work. Aer Lingus are very picky about the type of cards that will get you off on paying the booking charge. I think it is only some tyoe of Visa card that only works, and they are a pain in the ass to sign up for as I discovered last year.

The reaction of the Ring and Park rockers on the program for 2012, with Metallica , the Toten Hosen and Linkin Park at the tip could not have been euphoric. Five months before the start of Germany's most popular open air festivals of 1 to 3 June are already sold over 100,000 tickets. Before the next price level on 16 January occurs, the tickets are Rock am Ring in short supply, while demand for Rock in the Park is significantly higher than in previous years. On the first weekend in June at the two locations at the Nurburgring and Nuremberg each have 85 bands on three stages . act In addition to more than two dozen artists already confirmed to be announced soon more attractive acts. From the 16th January increased the ticket price for Rock am Ring at 175, - € and for rock in the park on 160, - € including any fees, camping and parking, and garbage deposit repayable at 5, - €. The new price level is valid until 15 March.

Prices up next week until March, which kinda sucks. And selling well, so may have to be well organised this year.

Can't believe the price of it now compared to €110 or so when I first went over in 2008... still great value compared to a fest over here but it all ads up with flights etc. Glad I got to go when it was cheaper!

yikes that's quite a hike especially for rock am ring. Flights are dear enough too at the minute, not impressed.

Didn't know about that bayer card before, that's certainly a lot cheaper for trains than I've paid before.

wait what now? how is it 35 euro for postage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

On mainticket.de, when chose collection, it showed up in Wurzburg, when chose postage, I couldn't select Ireland. Onto eventim.de, it wouldn't allow collection, so obviously had to choose world postage and put in Ireland. Says they'll be delivered with 2-3 days worldwide, and think they dispatched!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,854 ✭✭✭Beekay

I remember the first year I did that. Think here does cheaper delivery but doesn't have Ireland as a choice. I emailed them after ordering with full address and was no problem!

Ah sure same thing. I nearly changed to going to RAR then saw/thought it more difficult to get there so went with RIP. Fly to Munich (I'm getting train to Cork and flying from there), then train to Nuremburg (€29 cos of a Bayern card they have...5 people it covers for the day on local trains). Then repeat for coming home bar I'm flying into Dublin. Plus the tickets are cheaper.

RAR?? I've only ever gone to the train station in Koblenz. There is a bus from there to the fest. that costs €10 return, it runs on all days of the fest. as far as I remember.

Just in case anyone is debating whether to go to Rock Im Park, there are only 2,671 tickets left. Could be worth getting a move on, these will be gone in the next few days, if even that.

Only 3 weeks till I head off for this now, getting really excited. Just found out now that the time splits have been done (probably done a while).

    http://www.rock-im-park.com/spielplan

    Only clashes/part-clashes for me are:

    Metallica/The Hives
    Soundgarden/Machine Head
    Kasabian/Killswitch Engage
    Cypress Hill/Lamb of God

Can't win 'em all I guess. Tis great seeing Mastodon and Opeth on at 1am, and Ghost will be on long after the Offspring. Looks like spending most of my time at the 3rd stage then.
