I see threads for this pop up mostly every year so I set up one for our own fresher's year 2011/12.

How are all you newbies finding NUIM so far?

I was very worried at first, as seen from some of my previous posts in this forum.

Things have changed a lot for me however, I have made some really good friends that do include me in things like asking if I want to go on nights out etc.

Didn't really think I would click with many people initially but I'm glad I threw myself in the deep end after all.

Course is mostly fine, doing Psychology so you get bits and bobs of boring statistics but the rest is good, likewise in my two other subjects.

Commuting is good too, seen as how I just live in Leixlip.

How about everyone else, I hope I'm not the only one having a ball.

I'm finding it okay have my good and bad days like everyone I suppose. I commute and its the waiting that gets me. Just settling in now and am on work placement in January so a new set of rules! Glad I chose Maynooth.

Great! Met loads of nice people and I'm just really enjoying it. The only downside are the assignments :P

It can take a while to get settled in at college, so don't worry! If you ever need a hand with stuff or a rant, we're all lovely :D

By and large Boardsies are lovely, too; well worth noting.

Just stay plugged into the system (i.e with clubs, socs, boards.ie, talks, screenings etc.) and push yourself to chat with folks--you come to realise that you shouldn't be nervous of people in general because of the odd pr*ck you might encounter. You'll be settled before you know it. :)
