Try connecting it to a different itunes or different computer & this usually kick starts it .

I just took mine to the local apple authorised shop and they did it there. All they did was plug it into their computers and it updated properly. Mine was stuck at the same as yours.

Download tinyumbrella and there is an option in there to kick it out of dfu mode

    Try this:
    Plug it into you computer.
Hold the Power button & home button together until it turns off. Then enter DFU mode and try to restore.

    How to enter DFU.

If there is any apple entries in your hosts file delete them and reboot if your using windows. Put the phone in dfu mode and restore

I can get iTunes to do a restore using a custom iOS made by sn0wbreze.
All go`s to plan, iTunes restores the phone and then when I get to the screen with the apple logo above the progress bar nothing happens :( Its been stuck on that screen now for the last 3 hours or so...

Were in the hell do I go 4rm here?

Just to say how I got iTunes to do the restore, I changed the host file, I put a # in front of the apple ip address and all went ok , if I don't have that done to the host file iTunes will just give me an error at the 1st hurdle.

Please lads help me .... I have even went to a internet cafe and tried a different PC but stil the same result.

At this stage I am on my hands and knees begging for help!!

What firmware are you trying to restore to?
Have you tried the latest unmodified downloaded from felixbruns

Well im trying 5.0.1 but id love lower but im not sure what iOS the phone was on, I was a tik mofo the day i took the phone for not looking at all the details!

If I use a unmodified iOS the baseband will update, I dont want that you see.
