Great reputation but its really in the middle of nowhere. Most students seem to live in the nearby town of Leamington Spa which is em ...quiet

Well, I don't drink nor am I a party animal sort. Genuinely want to learn alot from it, so could be best. How much is the rent per week/month?

Edit: I would be bringing my bike so I wouldn't mind a commute of 20k+ or so, too.

    Cripes.

Rent will be a difficulty so. I wouldn't mind cycling the 20 miles, sounds like an OK commute for me.

    Any other commuter towns?

Plenty of people live much closer to the campus than Leamington. Leamington is pretty posh in general so rents are quite expensive - Coventry is closer and oodles cheaper but it's not the nicest/most scenic place in the world. I'm trying to be diplomatic but I lived in the area for years and Coventry just isn't very nice :o On the plus side it's a city so there's more to do socially and transport links are pretty good. There's also another university there so there's plenty of students and student housing about.

Warwick is a lovely campus and a very well respected university. I almost went there for my undergrad a few years ago and loved the feel of the place. Rent-wise closer to 300 a month would be realistic for the Coventry side of things. Leamington is nicer but pricier. Kenilworth is a nice small town and good for commuting but there isn't as much rental stock there.

    Excellent news.

Can I ask some you to name some nicer areas in Coventry, or are there?

Cannon Park is alright and reasonably close to campus. Canley is closer but it's very very run down in parts (large council estates like the ones in Shameless, not the ones we're used to) so personally I'd skip it, not because people who live on council estates are bad but because the area as a whole is ugly and can be dangerous. Earlsdon and Tile Hill would be worth a look also but slightly further afield and the latter doesn't have too many students living there. There's always Kenilworth too :)

Tricky question. There are some nice places in cov, Earlsdon has historically been popular with students both from cov uni and Warwick uni and is within walking distance of the city centre. However if I was to return I would live one of the many towns surrounding cov ie Leamington spa, kenilworth or Warwick. My personal choice would be leamington - and yes it does not have the night life of the city, but is far safer, friendlier and there are some really nice pubs. There is also good transport between leamington and cov if you do want a bit of city life.

Yes Coventry has had a bit of a reputation in the past (ghost town by the specials etc.) but it is really historical especially on a religious and an industrial level. If you like cars at all then the motor museum is a must plus it's free. The catherdrals are unique and a night having a relaxed drink in one of the pubs on the old medieval spon street can become adictive. Essentially much of its issues stem from the fact that it was severely bombed in wwII and was effectively distroyed - its very name is synonymous with the word blitz. It was rebuilt far too quickly and without enough thought. It is very multicultural and this adds to its charm.

As you can guess I am from cov but I havent lived there for years and maybe as I'm writing this I am being a bit overly nostalgic - only that I haven't seen anything untrue in any of the comments so far:o
