Canon EOS20D and EOS 5D

    Hi All,

Your help is needed please. I have an ERR99 appearing regularly on the led screen of my EOS20D. This is also accompanied by a 'clicking' sound.
Now the instruction manuals response to ERR99 is to remove and refit the battery. It does not mention how to deal with the clicking sound.
However I have removed and refitted the battery and this resolves the issue, but only for a short while. This is very frustrating. Anyone out there able to advise ?

Now the problem I have with my Canon EOS5D is with the 'mirror' for reflecting images onto the sensor. This has come loose are requires 'glueing' or some form of securing to it's base. Canon have admitted this is a rare problem on the 5D but are willing to repair same FOC. Unfortunately the camera would have to be sent to England as no company is able to fix it in Ireland. This would take a minimum of 4 weeks.

Has anyone come accross this issue and been able to fix same without having to send the camera away ? Please help. Thanks.

    Heya,

On the 20D you probably have a phase switch and/or shutter problem which is symptomatic of clicking and error 99.

On the 5D if the mirror is intact and has not damaged any other parts when it fell off it could be reglued with a certain glue after cleaning the old glue off properly. Canon do this FOC but anywhere you send it to in Ireland is going to charge you as only ASF's can do warranty repairs (ie free repairs) and the only ASF here (ISS) doesn't do repairs and just send it to the UK anyway.

I do repairs myself so if you want to PM me I can give you details?
