    possibly wired wrong

    new connections should be

    blue neutral
    black sink
    brown bath

if he connected like with like on the old immersion then this could be your problem

Thermostat in the body of the immersion might need turning up.

If the top of the cylinder is cool or cooler than it should be, then the plumber won't be having anything to do with it. Save your money and get that electrician back. Somethings not right with the immersion, either wiring, thermostat or even perhaps the unit is faulty. (virtually unheard of but possible none the less).

why did you replace previous one?
any hot taps turned on slightly(have a listen to water tank in attic)
try switch on sink (just in case he wired it wrong)

the only way you can check if the sink and bath heater are wired the right way round and working properly is by checking the current(AMPS) they draw. Only a amp meter can check it...... The electrician WILL have one. I dont recommend that people adjust the thermostat on the heater as they are generally accurate and set to around 65 deg ¢. Any higher then you are usually mixing cold water at the taps to cool it back down...... Wasting energy and money.

Small leak on the hot, leave all water system to settle for 20 minutes and check water tank, if still slightly filling then thats your problem.

What electrician puts new immersion in and not connects to the switch
    Even to check the connections
    i wonder sometimes
Think he joined cables or used old cable and didn't use new colour scheme
Good workmanship would include new immersion switch
ive seen you are getting him back
let us know how you get on

Hi, well had plumber in to check it and it transpires that the old cylinder was half full of limescale and sediment so had new one fitted and all working great .
