RCD500 CD Changer Trouble *Help Please*

    I have an RCD500 6 CD changer in my Mk5 golf that went kaput a few years back. Its just not reading cds after an idiot ex girlfriend of mine shoved a cd in without placing load. Long story short after the cd was removed the unit no longer works. Anyway...2 year later and i bought this contraption on ebay

    and i fitted it as per instructions. I added the adapter to the back of my RCD 500 in the external cd port. No heres where my next problem lies. I cant get the bloody thing to work. Does anybody know how the hell do i get into aux mode. I'm reading all sorts on the net like press cd twice and nothing seems to work for me. Does the problem lie with the fact that my cd changer wont load cds?
