Audio / Video Editing PC for €800

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to build a PC that will be used primarily for Audio/Video editing with the unfortunate budget of €800.

It needs a HD monitor at least 21 inch,

A 1TB harddrive should be more than enough as most of long term storage will be on external harddrives. I was thinking a small SSD to use as scratch disk for the editing but the budget probably wont allow?

Does not need to include OS(I have Windows 7 already)
Does not need speakers.Cheapo keyboard + mouse will be fine.

I'm thinking a 600W power supply, Core i5 and at least 8G or ram if possible

Motherboard - Need firewire and would be nice to have USB 3.0 but not essential.

If anyone could reccommend the best parts I could get for my budget, espically the Graphics and Audio card, it would be great.

How essential is that 1TB hard drive? Could you get by on a 64GB SSD, using externals for media storage? Prices are still pretty high.

Yes I probably could, I didnt realise how much HDD's have gone up recently!

Either that or scavenge older drives from other pc's

Right, well this build has everything you asked for - 21.5" 1080p monitor, i5 proc, with a cooler, 16GB RAM, 64GB SSD, etc. The only thing I couldn't find was a motherboard with firewire. Do you absolutely have to have it? Could you use an adapter to USB 3.0 or somethining?

Oh, I also didn't include a keyboard/mosue. The keyboard from here would be German anyway, and if it's a cheapo mouse, you might as well just buy a combo pack somewhere else.

Thanks! That looks good, yea I guess I could probably just get a PCI Firwire card,just handy to have it built in.

Do you recon it would be worth giving up the cooler master and just use stock fan to get the 16G of ram?

In a regular PC, I'd say yes. I don't know enough about the demands of audio / video editing to be sure.

Assuming you having 8GB wouldn't be an issue, would a faster processor help?

Serph, would you run all that off a 450 watt psu? Seems a bit low to me!

It's close, but it'll run fine. I've seen people run 470's on ok-ish 450W PSUs, a good 450W will run the lower power 560Ti fine.

I am currently working on a system for myself, will be looking for advice from you guys when I finish my research.

One of the things I need is firewire and this is the Motherboard I am considering:
