We are in Kilkenny our broadband works(via NTL) but our Eircom email is bouncing. Is there a problem with Eircom.net email this morning or is it our end?

    Thanks
    Shay

    What email is bouncing? Outgoing?

Are you using smtp.upcmail.ie as your SMTP server?

When I ask Outlook to test the email account settings, it fails.
    It completes:
    establishing network connection
    Find outgoing email server SMTP
    Find incoming mail server POP3
Log onto incoming mail server POP3

but fails on send test email
    Error message:

"The specified server was found, but there was no response from the server"

    I haven't changed any settings

Change your outgoing server to smtp.upcmail.ie and remove authentication if you have it turned on. You are using UPC for broadband you should be using their SMTP to send your emails. This is not unusual broadband providers will only allow you to relay email through their server if you are using their broadband service. So eircom are not allowing you to use mail1.eircom.net because your broadband is with UPC.
