I came across this site, which listed a Public sector corruption perceptions index. http://cpi.transparency.org/cpi2011/results/

Ireland is at #20, with a rating of 7.5. Top country is New Zealand and the bottom ones are North Korea & Somalia.
Leaving aside issues about the Transparency International's standing and the measurement of such as index, does this show Ireland to be a good place to do business internationally or otherwise?

Interesting report. We are ahead of other countries getting a bailout or possibly needing a bailout - Portugal, Greece, Italy and Spain.

We are also ahead of the US and France as well as quite a number of other EU countries (we are joint 9th EU country).

Behind the Nordic countries and Singapore, probably due to the black economy. We still have a little bit of a Southern European approach to paying taxes and claiming social welfare.

Will be a bitter blow for the ODS conspiracy nuts who think we are riddled with croneyism to find that we are not that bad at all.

There's plenty of cronyism but we lack true corruption on a large scale in this country. Unlike some other places in the EU.
