Hi Susie, best route would be the below, which avoids O'Connell Street.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=navan,+ireland&daddr=Macken+St&hl=en&sll=53.34407,-6.244826&sspn=0.014886,0.042272&geocode=FUq0MgMdz--Z_ynXXgc1s0RnSDHAcjGXqccACg%3BFVH1LQMdC8Wg_w&vpsrc=0&mra=dme&mrsp=1&sz=15&t=m&z=15

No need for you to go onto O'Connell Street as it's something of a dogleg and it's no entry strictly speaking southbound.

You're best route is to keep straight on after Phibsboro. Stay headed straight this way past the Big Tree and the Sunset House and to the back of IFSC to the new bridge, Samuel Beckett on the Liffey; you can cross here over it and when you follow the road flow it will take you to the Grand Canal Theatre and Pearse Street, the entrance to the car park. All told you are about 10 minutes from Phibsboro if the traffic's going well and no turns off at all; a doddle of a trip.

Edit, my route is the same as Joe's route :)

You can't go wrong taking directions from someone called Losty Dublin! :D

It's pretty much a straight route with no turns the whole way from Navan to the Beckett Bridge, and at that stage you are pretty much there. The only place it can get a bit confusing is the new Blanchardstown roundabout layout, best thing to remember there is to stay in a middle lane and follow the signs marked "City". There is one slip road that goes left onto the Northbound M50, two to the right that go Southbound on the M50, and two in the middle that go to the city.

Might also be handy to check the AA website the day before you leave just to make sure there are no diversions or anything.

    Enjoy the show.

    Hi all
hoping to Park in Grand canal Square car park.

We were going to a show there recently - starting at 7.30. We arrived to park in the theatre car park at about 5.45, with the intention of having a meal first, and found that the car park was already full except for pre-booked spaces.

    Next time we'll book first.
