    Hi All,

Looking at booking our wedding venue soon and i'm just a little worried about different hotels that might be in financial trouble that we dont' know about.
Is there any way i can find out the names of hotels in administration or recievership?
Aloo, is there any come back if a hotel that i've paid a deposit with closes down before my wedding?

if its in receivership you generally cant get insurance, one way to protect yourself is pay the deposit on a credit card, youd be entitled to a chargeback.

Google has a lot of answers on hotels if you search particular hotels! Also try finding their trading name and search them on www.cro.ie and check their annual return for accounts.

    To put it simply

If a hotel is in recievership before oyu pay a depsipt by law you are protected and woudl get your money back shoudl they go out of business

if you pay a deposit and then the hotel goes into recievership and subsequently fails your at the back of the queue as an unsecured creditor basically you wont get anything back.

ultimatly I would say go spend 150 odd quid on wedding insurance. its a pittance for peace of mind.

I'm planning my wedding for June 2012 at the moment and have chosen to avoid hotels that I know are in receivership. I did this purely because, even if I get my money back, I don't want to have to deal with the hassle or stress of trying to find an alternative venue at short(er) notice.
Yes this has limited things a little but worth it I think.
