Tights. I don't care what anyone says, men in tights are all ridiculous.

A high viz, winter jacket, with a few reflective stripes. It is now sulking in my wardrobe.

Carrera 3/4 length "denim" tights. Found them a few weeks ago as I was clearing out the attic and shuddered as I put them in the bin.

    Bert and Ernie cycling top.

BTW Ednwireland. I would love to have pink shorts - can you still get them somewhere?

This funky pair by any chance? I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of posters modelling their mentioned garments.

    ****ing sweet!

The little bit of pink on the boards shorts when wearing a yellow top is the closest I've been

Shame is normally in the eye of the beholder and seldom in the wearer.....

A pair of santini cycling shorts that were too small and used to ride up the crack of my arse, leaving me cycling around with a wedgy that i never knew about for months till someone pointed it out :o:o:o

I dunno, I think there's something cool about walking into a cycling shop and asking for a pair of tights, without the person in the shop batting an eye lid. Last weekend, I went into a shop and asked about a pair of tight high leg warmers. Not a word was said. I bought them and walked away a happy man.

The very ones - except they were 3/4 length as "popularised" by Edwig Van Hooydonck and are now known as "bib knickers"

I, in my early days of riding, owned a pair of Cipollini's zebra print Aqua&Sapone?? shorts!!! What a d***head!! ;-)

Wore them with proper mongo hairy legs too!! Disgusted with myself..

I was unaware of the rules of the Euro-Pro back then!!!

Also got to say, in reply to Tights topic....

Tights are vital in brutally cold weather!! No way you can ride without them.

A gatorade winter jacket of the impermeable front variety. Way too baggy and way too green, white and Orange to be worn in many places I would be cycling in N.Ireland.

Like every single piece of cycling kit I've ever owned, I still have it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭bogmanfan

Not disputing this at all. I've been wearing them every time I go out for the last month or so. However, I still look like a tool. And everyone else in them does too... :D

I beg to differ. I look totally awesome in my cheap ass Lidl tights.
I especially like the way they go all saggy when they get really wet. Class.

Anyway, all the hipsters are wearing super skinny jeans... have you seen those things? Tights by another name.

Yes, I have seen the hipsters. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to me they look like tools also

There is nothing more embarrising than wearing cotton on a bike. Except livestrong gear.

A certain mod has been known to wear the same shorts. I have to say, the full zebra print outfit is pure class.

Ha! I'm the anti-Euro Cyclist, I think I break about just all of their rules! For me, most embarrising kit has to be the bib longs. Work great in the cold, by my, I look like a total spanner in them.

I am currently wearing these, as they were cheap! Embarrassed? Noooooooooo......!

I had a Banana team jacket back in the early nineties , which looking back on now is funny as it had a big banana on the back:D. They were a big uk team back then, chris lily-white among others was a team member.

I'm still having acceptance issues with my Giant TCR T-Mobile.
The amount of times I've had to say "It's not pink, it's MAGENTA!"
Can't bring myself to buy the team jersey, too risky!

I donned full lampre kit for a week a few years ago until i cycled through finglas one evening and a car full of lads drove up beside me mimicking jockeys riding horses with hand gestures etc while pi$$ing themselves laughing... in fairness, they were right, wtf was i thinking, even fabio baldato looked like a spa in it... i gave the lampre kit to my girlfriend and have stuck to all black ever since.

When I rekindled my interest in cycling I bought the Discovery Channel kit.
I quickly learnt that "himself" was associated with that kit and it's remained in the wardrobe ever since.

Lovely, I had the full length versions in Purple! Do I win a prize?

A spare tube which had previously been repaired about 5 times on my first club spin punctured. 20 riders watched me as I changed it with a similar vintage and of course I pinched the replacement while installing it.

But did you also have the matching jacket also in faux denim?

No I had the Raleigh/Weinmann team jersey.

Tell you the truth I bought the tights in Cycleways, they were stupidly cheap. Mind you I caught a glimpse of myself in the Blast on youtube from this year, the gear is a bit more expensive but I still look like a bleedin' spanner!

Kellogg's yellow jersey from around 1992. Still have it. And still looks awesome/terrible.

Cool castorama top from around the same time.
