Retro arcade themed diner

I am in charge of the fast food/diner part of a family entertainment centre. The boss wants to liven the diner up a bit and I was thinking a retro arcade theme would be a great idea. You can buy old school table type machines like the kind used to have frogger or space invaders on them that have about 60 or so retro games installed on them, my idea us to install these in the existing booths to be used as the tables you eat your food off and you can play a few of your favourite retro games while you are at it. It would let the younger kids and teens see what we used to play when we were their age aswell.
What does anybody think of this idea? Should I push it a bit more with the boss!

Sounds like a plan. Maybe you should post this over in Arcade & Retro Forum aswell probably get a better response there.

    Where is this diner located?
what are the cost implications of such an idea as the upkeep and maintenance can be expensive

the legality of sticking those games on and turning a profit is questionable

Why? The tables are purchased from an arcade supplier and are purchased as coin operated machines with no alterations required.

Could be a good idea. I presume you mean tables along the line of these? http://arcadetables.com.au/tables.htm

Would there be any hygiene issues? Eg person picking at their chips then touching the joystick and then back to their chips. You'd have to wipe down the controls and buttons every time you wiped down the table I imagine.

Could be wrong about that tho but haven't those games enterter the public domain?

Seems to make sense tho otherwise why not just put every game onto the machine (and there's 1000's).

They're only 20-30 years old, they won't be PD for another 40 or more.

SOME games have been specifically put in to to the public domain or other free-to-use setups but that's not some general thing.

Arcade machines sold commercially will have the games licenced, MAME boxes made by enthusiasts are generally not legit.

Sounds way more fun than the jukeboxes in Eddie Rockets anyway :)

Would it be any different to having a games machine/poker machine etc in a chippy that people play while they wait for their food and then eat with their hands. The tables are wiped down between every customer anyway so I wouldent imagine that being a problem.
That link wasent working by the way but this is the idea.
