Did you bet a cheeky €5 on an accumalator or your life savings in the grand national?

Apart from poker / casino bets...

I had almost 500 on Bertie to be next Taoiseach at 7/4 back in 2007. Went into the shops on Talbot street the morning after the televised debate and lumped on as much as they'd take (the online odds were crap for some reason).

Originally intended to lay a little off but as time went on I believed he was pretty close to a cert so kept the whole bastard lot.

    ;)

Biggest stake about 800 euro. Biggest win about 7K. Not the same bet. And I don't swim in such waters often, if at all. Normally a two-figure bet kinda guy.

    St Stephen's Day 2001 - IR£4K won from a IR£20 acca.

Crawled out of bed after the previous night's traditional gluttony and drove down to the shop to get milk for the breakfast. Locked my keys in the car (old type car with manual lock) so had to ring my Mam to come down and bring the spare key. While waiting I went into the local indo and had a quick IR£20 accumulator

    Man Utd
    Arsenal
    Leeds
    Liverpool
    Celtic
Florida Pearl in the King George

2 games were on in the morning and they both won (Arsenal & Leeds)

Then Florida Pearl won so the bet was really on then.

Being St Stephens Day me and all my mates were in the local for the day and, with 45 mins to go in all 3 games, you had Man Utd fans cheering for Liverpool and Liverpool fans cheering for Utd hoping the bet would come in.

With 15 mins to go, not one of the 3 teams were winning! One guy in the pub offered me a grand for the ticket at that stage but I said I'd keep it - probably take his hand off if it happened now.

Then Liverpool scored to go 2-1 up against Villa (eventually won 2-1) and Utd scored almost straight afterwards to go 1-0 up against Everton (eventually won 2-0)

Celtic needed a 92nd-min winner from Henrik Larsson to beat Livingston at home 3-2! The pub erupted when that score came in on the vidi-printer.

I ran over to the bookies before it closed but they didn't have enough money. They gave me a monkey and I got the rest by cheque about 2 days later. I had to borrow a tenner off my mate the next morning for a bit of breakfast I was buying drink for all and sundry that night.

I actually met my wife during that Christmas but that win was the highlight!

Got around €800 about 8 years ago on a 9 team accum. One match was called off so had to wait 24 hours to see if it would be played before the bookie would pay out. Think it was Russia :D

E4700 from E50 that was run up over 3 weeks betting on football. Paid for a month in thailand, laos and vietnam. Thanks ladbrokes. I have won a fair bit more since then but that was the first taste of success when I realised how to use excel and was a broke student at the time.

Lodged 50 quid into my account for the Punchestown meeting in may and ended up withdrawing 800 by the end of the week with some left overs!
Was just on fire, me and my mates made a bomb.
Biggest winner was Lovethehigherlaw, who sadly passed away recently. I backed most of the big favs, few doubles and trebles.

One of my mates put a 20 quid 4 fold on four horses one of the days, the first 3 horses came in, returns were something like three and a half grand, but First lieutenant let him down, he had no betfair account so no option to lay it and didnt really understand the process at the time, so we mulled over the possibly of lumping all he had in his bank account, 500 euro on So Young, Literally a click away from depositing it. Luckily he decided against it, So Young came last!
