Why did you beleive him? IT was well known before election that he was a two faced (american embassey), profiteering(sellling land with his wife to government for 500k), champagne socialist. He has never had a real job in his life and has lived off the money of others all that time. He only has to stay in government for 2 years and he will be entitled to full ministerial pension along with his other pensions.

As unparliamentary his language is, the post is still accurate.

Again I and many others said categorically in here that Labour could and would not carry out their manifesto promises. Don't want to be mean about this but anyone who thought there wasn't going to be cuts and tax increases was living on a different planet. Personally I would be very angry if there wasn't cuts as it would mean we'd be borrowing even more.

Because there is no money for such a luxury welfare payment?
    Just a thought...

In fairness to the lad it's easy to lose the temper when you consider that any money we do have or save through cutbacks does get thrown away immorally on paying returns to unguaranteed stockmarket gamblers who are even shocked and surprised that we are paying them off.
Before any of that became an issue I might have been slightly angry myself at people who never contribute anything yet expect everything but now they have been pushed down the list by a far more powerful set of leeches who being mostly born with silver spoons in their mouths, coming from stable families and having some of the best educations and opportunities in life etc really should be expected to know better.

Forgive my innocence but arent all irish politicians lying scumbags? Cant think of anyone that is worth a vote anymore. I'm afraid the last election could be my last time voting......which is gut wretching when I think of those who died for our vote. I think the op is just voicing the extreme anger and frustration which no doubt most of us feel.

Taking your name off the register might have some advantages for some people. TV license guy , spam mailers, nosey people , telemarketers etc won't be able to put a name to your address.
Personally for now I think it's more important than ever to stay on the register so I can vote NO to the next Eurocrat referendum and I must stay there to vote NO again and again as many times as they reject our democratic outcomes.

Personally I feel let down by the Eamon Gilmore & his Labour party much the same way that I felt let down by the Green party in the last coalition. Yes, I understand the need for austerity but targeting the most venerable is not the way forward. I feel that the like of the Labour party should add balance to a Government intent on protecting the wealthy. Eamon Gilmore should be looking to introduce a tax on the haves & not the have nots. Yet he seems content with his little bit of power and to dance to the tune of Germany/France/ECB/IMF. He had an opportunity to show that a Labour party stood for the working class & disadvantaged of this country but as usual, the likes of Gilmore show their true colors once in office. While I appreciate were the country is at and certain short-term tough decisions need to be made, the lack of long term vision is frightening. As for the payment of unsecured debt & the extension of the bank guarantee, well should we be surprised by Gilmore's stance on such matters. I think not! It's FF/Greens part 2.

Because he'd have to answer to Enda Kenny,

Yeah that's right, there's two parties in power not one, like any relationship that means comprimise.

On top of all that ya might have noticed FFail f**ked up the country over the last 15 years or were ya too busy voting them in every time to be bothered.
