A friend got a Philips MP3 Player which has Songbird softwear. Before installing it on her comp I immediately plugged it into my comp to download music from my comp to the device. I have techy friends who can put songbird on her comp anyway however is the version that comes with a philips mp3 player exclusive to it??

Don't worry it's not like iTunes where you can't put music on from other machines. Songbird is fine. You can install it on other machines and synch music from any pc/laptop.

Even if you don't have the disk you can download songbird software from http://getsongbird.com/
