    Hi im working full-time and studying a primary teaching postgrad at night. I will very soon be unable to work full-time because my employer cannot accomodate the amount of time off I need as part of my course and will not let me work part-time;

    I'm required to spend
    -5 days in feb teaching
    -the whole month of april teaching
    -3 weeks in the summer in thegaeltacht
    -and the whole of november 2012 teaching in a school and various other days off during the year for other training.

    I am only temporary in work (on a rolling contract E306 a week).

    I realise if I resign voluntarily I will be disqualified from jobseekers allowance for 9weeks. But will i be entitled to anything when i tell them the truth that i can only really work part-time?? Or is jobseekers allowance only there for those available for full-time work?

    * By the way, I was on jobseekers allowance from march to july 2011

    To qualify for jobseekers you have to be available and looking for full time work. In view of the fact the you will not be available for full time work you will be disqualified for jobseekers.
    If you are doing a Hdip it is unfortunate that you did not apply for Back to Education if you qualified for it.
    Call into your local sw office and check our if you qualify for anything.
