Damien's card?

I just notice from today's round that Damien McGrane is currently at 114 on the European Tour and he has just shot +7 so is likely to miss the cut tomorrow unless he can pull off a miracle round.

Is he in danger of losing his card or did it depend how he finished a week or two ago?

Like when does the new season properly start?

He needed to make the cut to guarantee his card. It depends how those below him in the Race to Dubai do now, shame if he has to return to Q-School.

New season starts in January. Yep he's in danger. Gareth Maybin needs a good result to get in the 115 and started very well today.

Not a good season for McGrane but he should get a good few invites next season(if he does miss out on the top 115) and could get back on track if he made the most of those. Hopefully he won't need them. Great 3 or 4 years on tour up to this year and hopefully more of that to come. A guy I like to watch. Great short game.

That means you can make 1/4 million and not get your card ?

    Indeed :D
Could actually end up being Gareth Maybin that knocks McGrane out of the top 115 depending on how results go obviously.

Thanks all for your replies. :(

I was thinking he could be goosed if he had a poor tournament this week.

However, I did a bit of digging around the europeantour.com site and found this which might help him retain his card even if he does bomb out tomorrow...

"The cut-off point to retain playing privileges for The 2012 European Tour International Schedule is currently 118th on The Race to Dubai – comprising the top 115 Members from Categories 1-14 along with any Category 15 or Affiliate Members, with Fredrik Jacobson (35th), Ryan Moore (72nd) and Jbe Kruger (95th) falling into that camp."

So, he might be lucky that it will go to 118 this year.

The Pro game is too tough, some great golfers there.

Seems a bit harsh to lose your card at that. has the number reduced from a few year back, are more coming in from school .

    Anyway, that is so hard.

Soren Hansen and Ollie Wilson on the Ryder Cup team one before last, Phil Price bet Mickelson in the singles in the Ryder Cup the year Paul McGinley sank the winning putt at the Belfry, shows how up and down golf is.

True. Fingers crossed for him so. Reckon he should hang in there.

The 250000 that the guys are making to keep there card would just be keeping then in a good wage. I saw a artical in one of the golf mags where they were saying it costs almost 200000 to stay on tour for the year, by the time you pay your caddy pay for hotels and flights food. The sponorship at that level is very little so they are not making big money.

John Parry too, won as a rookie just last year was looking very promising. Amazing the way careers can flucuate.

McGrane should be safe. If you finish within the top 118 you are OK becasue there is 3 lads who haven't played enough events to hold a tour card already in there.

Maybin with a coupl eof decent rounds should be OK and looking at the positions is the only one that can catch McGrane. Both should be fine if I was having a bet

on the pga tour Poulter came 115th on $740k.

that is crazy money to keep your card

He was a bit safer than that, kept it by €8,100

Gareth Maybin sneaked in by €4,001

He's safe for his card for 2012 - Confirmed.

Number went to 118 as was already said.

Being down to this number may mean it will be more difficult to get into some of the events though........

    He should bounce back.
