Sound not working in speakers or earphones.

My Mam has a compaq mini CQ10-500..

The sound on it worked up until recently, and I figured the speakers were broken, but then I plugged in headphones, and they didn't work either.

I've tried installing a new driver, going back to the original driver too, but nothing's happened.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Sorry to state the obvious here, but did you check that it's not muted? Would be the last thing I'd check!

Either at the icon in the task bar or in control panel.

You have to be careful in Windows vista and 7, press the Volume icon followed by "Mixer", make sure nothing is muted in there (even if the sound icon doesn't show muted individual applications may have been)

Yup, none of them are muted in it!
