    Can psychedelic substances bring you closer to God.

    I understand that in the late 60s that the Catholic Chruch did trials where priests would take the then newly discovered LSD in an attempt to better understand God.

    I know drugs are bad etc. but I also know many church going friends who blaze a spliff in the evenings and down a few magic mushrooms at a festival.

    Many cultures and religions include psychedelic plants in their rituals, and there is evidence the the human body is capable of such such chemicals in the brain during times of extreme emotion.

    My question here is more for these type of christens as opposed to the judgemental Charlie Churches who also frequent this board.

    Have you had a spiritual experience while experimenting with psychedelic substances.

    Any source for these trials carried out by the Catholic Church?It sounds more than a little unlikely....

    Yeah, it was in this documentary about LSD the BBC made in the 70s... I'll update the post with a link later if I can find it.

    Sounds like he's been smoking some spacedogpoo. Polluting your brain and thoughts by means of eternal chemicals will take you away from God, not closer.

    Well I suppose if you took them and thought you could fly and jumped off a tall building they would bring you close to your maker.
