Not sure if this is the right forum but does anyone have any interesting pics or videos of cloned/pirated games or systems they might have come across over the years?

You mean things like bootleg arcade boards or hacks? There's been a few threads on console knock offs from China recently.

I find the subject very interesting, was looking at a few youtube videos too, some interesting pirated carts etc. does anyone have any pics of anything theyve picked up?

tbh pirated carts are everywhere, many who buy on ebay have them and not realise.
I have a couple of GBA carts that arrived a couple of years ago.
The only way you'd know is the odd sticker on the back, the fact that they don't quite fit right in the cart slot and the little fact that the seller was shut down and a warning sent to me the day after I received the goods!

As far as dodgy GB carts go, there are loads from Hong Kong with lists of games, often the usual ton of bootlegs with hacks as well as a handful of original games, same goes for the multi carts for the MVS and the like.

Repro (duction) carts are rife on ebay, as everyone here knows, especially when it comes to high value games.
So, if you find a cheap copy of Mega Man: Wily Wars, and it purports to be a PAL copy, check the fine print on the auction as it is a repro, it was never released in this territory.
Now they are obliged to be honest about the genuineness of the article but the can be very very creative in how they tell you.
A rule of thumb is that if it looks like you are getting something really rare for a song then there is some reason for it, so check the small print!

I was duped when I got The Minish Cap on ebay. I had the game for 2/3 years before I found out that it was a bootleg cart. Pokemon on the GBA got an especially rough time from the bootleggers. A lot of the carts would pass for a genuine one, at a quick glance, but there are things to look out for.

    Read on.....
