So i rush in back to work and get a lovely huge box... I newer knew i will ever say it, but i could have used an OCTAVIA TODAY!!!! ;)

You have proven there is absolutely no need for a lad to upgrade to a saloon if he's not a family man.

    OR

If he is there is already a family car in the household.

For that I thank you. :D

EDIT: Are you spamming for scan.co.uk by any chance???? huh?? :D

I'll see your MX-5 and raise you. In my SMART, I've managed to squeeze in *deep breath* :

    A full drum kit
    Drum stand coffin
    Drum seat
    2 Guitars and One Bass
    Bass amp
Bag with leads and power supplies
    3 Guitar stands
    Overnight bag

That was an interesting drive home. Got back to our rehearsal studio, and there was two bands outside taking a break, one said it looked like all the Clowns getting out of a car in Fossetts Circus with all the gear!!

I used to get my son to bring stuff over from the UK when he visited, saved loads in postage. Unfortunately he sold the Corsa and bought an MX5, best he can do now is half a dozen bottles of my favourite real ale

My brother in law bought a piano back from the uk on the roof of his Land Rover :D

    Specs wouldnt be very impresive.

its bog standart "10 anniversery edition"

    1.8
    6speed+ short shift
    torsen LSD
    Koni gas suspention
    special chrome light weight wheels
limited edition pain "innocent blue" if i remember correctly.

Its not much on a paper, but it is very nicely balanced little roadster. If your rear end breaks lose, it does not scary you, as its very easy to put her back. VERY fun and predictable on twisty roads. I have it for 2.5 years, its used as daily driver all this time. SUPER reliable. in all this time only one thing that was not an usual maintance routine - coilpack ( 180eu +beer for my friend for puting it in )

plus having 2 seats is a huge advantage. example: You picking up your misses from night club or pub. her cheap bastard friends will go: " oh can you drop us home please? " me - " ah, bejesus! so sorry, but its a 2 seater, i have space only for misses" *giggle giggle :p*

I always thought they where relatively painless.
Have MX5 in our household as well. Yes, it is the GF's car. Yes, I do drive it every now and then.
    And it's bloody fantastic.
My Focus is a tractor compared to it, I love the way you can hit every corner and it just flits about the road, great fun.

After bringing him up on a diet on Land Rovers he is a bit of a disappointment!! :D

I'm well impressed with the MX5 though, his is a 91 and a bit scruffy but goes and handles well. Has driven it over twice for us to do a load of work on it, fancy coilovers etc but is doing more on it himself now with the help of other MX5 forum members around Kent and Essex. I bought him a new hood for it last Christmas as I was getting wet in it!

It had stood for quite a while before he had it and has got to the stage where it really needs a lot of bodywork done so he's decided to get a Jap import Mk1 1.8 in better condition and swap all the modded bits over and break the rest.

There's an MX5 specialist just down the road from him, they supplied ad fitted it. It took three of them to close it and he was told not to open it for a month! It fits really well and works fine now though.
