Form 11 or Form 12

OK - noob questions once more

I submitted a Form 12 for 2010 with all details etc on it as instructed by a Tax advisor.
This however has been returned to me and they are asking me to fill in a Form 11

Can you tell me what the difference is and why I should be Form 11 and not 12

On the Revenue website is says
Note: PAYE customers should use Form 12 rather than Form 11

Wife and I have a rental property and rent totals €8000, after expenses and Capital allowances my tax advisor has the profit at €2221.
Really mad as I have an aversion to all things Tax and it is causing concern that they will come looking for interest and cash soon so want to get it sorted.
I believe they may have my details wrong as I was previously self employed but have been full PAYE since mid 2008. I rang the Tax office and they still say it should be form 12 as I am a ‘Chargeable Person’

    Very confused:confused:

It does seem a bit odd. When you ceased being self employed in 2008, did you cease the Income Tax registration using a Trcn1 form? If not it may be that they still have you registered as self assessed which would explain the form 11. Your profit figure does not push you into the self assessed category. Unless there's anything else like a directorship, I can't see why you should complete a form 11.
Ring your local office, speak to the self assessed area to find out why they have you registered as self assessed. They should be able to explain pretty quickly otherwise we are just guessing.

OK - sorry forgot to update

Rang the Revenue and they say that if I am an employee but have income from a rental property that I should always fill out for 11 and never 12

Now I am confused as my tax advisor said it should be form 12 - bahhh I hate tax and all its complications. Could they not just have an online form where I fill in all my details and it submits it to the system and none of this Form X for this and Y for that and W for the other thing if you are not this or that.

I would agree with your accountant---you fall within the 50k and 3174 limits
