I have to scan papers into a PDF file for an email. I was just wondering if anyone knows where there's a scanner floating around to do so.

In the IT Help Centre in the Daedalus building, there's a normal UCD PC with a scanner attached - that's probably your best bet. The standard scanning software creates BMP bitmap files (uncompressed graphics). I think you can use something like Adobe InDesign to create a PDF. Or you can insert them in to a Word or PowerPoint document and save to PDF from there, which I've successfully done before.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
