Clearing an airlock in water system

I have a problem that seems to be an airlock in my water system i have mains cold water and the tank is filling but i have no hot water.
After googling the problem i can only find how to clear the blockage if i have seperate hot and cold taps. I have mixer taps in all areas. I tried to block the aerator at the end of the tap with my hand and plastic etc but eachtime the water finds its way through so it cannot build up pressure to clear the airlock.

    My question is
    • Is there any blanking cap i can get to block the aerator or nozzle?
    • Can anybody give me another solution to clearing the airlock?
    Thanks

Modern mixers have seperate flows to the outlet so you can't use the blocking the mixer trick.
If you have a mains hosetap use it to force water up the mixer with the cold tap off and the hot tap on.

Thanks aujopimur unfortunately there is no outside tap and the washing machine is cold water too so it seems like we just need to get a plumber in though that is the last thing we need just before christmas.

    Thanks

Small grub screw at rear of spout! remove spout and place hand over the connector.
