    Hi guys,
I am looking at organising a Golf trip with a group of friends. There will probably be about 20 of us so i was wondering if any of you know of any good deals available that offer a nights accommodation and 1 or 2 rounds of golf? We are based in Dublin so it would be desirable if it wasn't miles away but dont mind a bit of a car journey! If anyone has any thoughts or did something similar once id love to hear any recommendations.
    Many thanks in advance!

i have gone away on a good few trips but we generally book golf and hotel seperately.Seems to work out better that way.
    Our best trip was below
    Play:Mount Juliet €60
Stay:Hibernian hotel kk city €55pp per night

If it was me i'd pick the best city for a good session and sort the golf after that,

Can't go wrong with Kilkenny for a good session.

Be VERY careful driving home though - seems to be a Gardai favourite for breathalyzer tests.

Have a look each day on www.dealpage.ie, there are frequent offers of golf/accommodation, I've never gone for accommodation before but have used for good value green fees/grub, e.g. Knightsbrook was €55 for a round for two and two course meal afterwards, we got a great day, the course was virtually empty and the place was in great condition

Great deals available at the Bridge House and Tullamore Court Hotels where you can play both Esker Hills and Tullamore . Only one hour from Dublin and just off the motorway. Great town for grub and good bars

    +1

Am working in Tullamore for about 15 years and its a great spot to eat out / few beers and two great golf courses.

Athlone would be another option to look at - 1hr from Dublin. Glasson / Moate / Mount Temple and Athlone GC are all good tracks and you'll get a hotel for about €65 a room B&B. Lots of good restaurants / pubs in the town too.

Maybe goto TeeTimes.ie find a good course for cheap, and then look for the hotel? This way you could get a great course near no towns, and then book a hotel within an hours drive of the place?

You can not go wrong with athlone, great place.

Don't know how the courses hold up in the rain ? but great place for golf, this is a bit out , but great course.

I'll second this. We had a two day tournament (knocklyonopen.com) last year for 15 golfers and we played and stayed in Glasson. We were well looked after and the course is fantastic.

Gareth will sort you out tell him knocklyonopen sent you!

Try Knightsbrook. Golf was €20 for me a couple of weeks ago. It's a good course.

Heard Glasson mentioned earlier, brutal wet at the moment, it's a course that suffers in heavy rain, we played a society round there a while back and it was touch and go because it was closed the full week prior, we got out but the place really shouldn't have been open, slipping and sliding with the trolley in a lot of spots on the front 12, back 6 were in better shape.
Around Athlone you'll also have Ballinasloe (suffers in wet also) and Esker Hills and New Forest which can take the rain very well.

We play 4/5 away weekends each year and I would vouch for the following three ....
    1. Headford, two courses and beside the town of Kells where you can stay in the hotel or a BnB.
    2. The Heritage, great course and always a buzz around the hotel n thatched pub.
    3. Dundrum House, good course and recommend you ask for the apartments .... always good for crashing a wedding or two. Great staff, great food and all-in-one location.

We have done the stay in town and play elsewhere but prefer not to have to drive after our golf....... also the group was more inclined to split up if we were in town.

I'd recommend Headfort too, great golf, decent wee town for pints.

It might be worth looking at Portmarnock Links at this time of year; the hotel always has offers in place.

I loved Druids Glen but the hotel is simply too expensive for a group of 'proper' men, while I'd be no fan of Druids Heath.

Farnham Estate and Slieve Russell would be a good combo. Cavan is a good drinking town.

What about Slieve Russell, great hotel & course all on the one site. I help run a large golf society and we usually head here for an away outing every year. though we are goin to RCD nxt year(got offered a great deal) the Slieve russell have always treated us like royalty , also to boot they have some great offers, from 85 for golf & a nites b&b, also they have free places for large groups....
And no Conno, I have no connection to them, did have my wedding reception their though, back in the 90's

Kilkenny city has a few choices not to far away but it's brass monkey time here now so if you're planning on organising a trip over the winter then coastal may be the way to go to avoid frost?

Thanks for the replys lads. Not looking to go till march time when it warms up a bit but there are some great ideas here - particularly liking the slieve russell all in package! Many thanks!
