I had them before for sheer novelty and before i ever started night games,

The one's i had were alright but not great, the IR leds do give off a bit of a red ish and once you have your night eyes settled you can spot them pretty quick in an open field.

Found them awkward enough to use while shooting an aeg.

If you got them for very handy money i say go for but i wouldnt go out of my way for them, thats just my experiance with them.

Would not even use then even if I got them for free, you're better of with your own natural night vision.

From my experience you will actually be in more danger of injury using the stupid things, they are to night vision what a big mac is to food

I like big mac... even though I always had to order 3 to be keep myself happy... :D

Completely agree. If you are looking for half-decent nightvisions - they are made by company called Yukon (most popular make I would say). I had NVMT 4x32 model, and they were quite good, were working fine, were app. cheap and were actually usable - especially if you`ll change the IRR light to stronger one, and/or there are flashlights in use on the site (light up the area a bit)
You can get for them as well mounting rings for scopes.

Brilliant experience when you use flashlight & NVG set together, but obviously you`ll have as much to do with stealth as a need to order 3x bic macs for one meal with sense;)

I checked price, those 200-300 $ is quite a lot for what I will use only sometimes. While I can get these goggles for 50 Euros.

Not really as your always going to hit a glass ceiling with how much quality you will get from the low quality light amplification it has. Also it is impractical to use as it covers both eyes and the screen inside it are about 4 to 5 cm away from your eyes meaning your orientation is all over the place.

Even with gen 1 night vision you will still have problems walking around with it, it is more for observation than anything else.

They are a gimmick designed for a gamer to switch the lights out in their house and play around for 5 minutes.

Sorry mate, but there is always that minimum that you`ll have to pay for every product... 200-300$ aint a lot for a set of nvg`s, and thats exactly the product for someone that ''will use it only sometimes''.
But thats of course a humble opinion of mine.
I personally completely agree with Pudding, with regards of MW2 ones being incredible sh$%$it.

I see of course from where you`re coming from... But looking at perspective of wasting 50 quids for something you want use anyway, and not-wasting 150 quids for what you`re looking for - should speak for volume.

I picked up a set for handy money here a good while back, field of view is quite narrow but they do work well enough.

I stripped them down to bare bones with the intention of a project that I think would over come most of their disadvantages. I still havent gotten round to it but will...someday. Basically a IR high power flashlight RIS mounted to a rifles handguard with the output monitor (which is about 3 inches accross) RIS mounted to another rail on the handguard on a flip out hinge. The battery pack could be wrist mountable with a snap connector or fitted to the stock. All the components are well seperated and none are too bulky so it would def be possible.

Would be a nice quick NVG refrence screen for quick scanning of an area if I ever get round to it. The closest I could describe the set up to would be the HB sensor from modern warfare?

night vision optics are such a waste of money in our sport, i invested in an optical scope night vision capable for hiking its handy for night navigation spotting landmarks and such and i used it for airsofting just to readjust my surroundings i had it tied to my vest. even the pros have trouble using night vision and it takes months of practice to be able to use them effectively and thats the government issue ones not the aldi specials:D. Using the nv's you'll be falling over every obstacle in the place, doing wonders for your stealthiness. As someone already pointed out natural night vision will always win out, just remember if your indoors and its dark keep to the shadows and don't let the light screw up your natural night vision jeep the torch off and don't look at the lights that are on.

A night vision scope on your gun would be handy for an indoor night game but other than that you'd have to go with what Puding said.

As far as I am aware, Night Vision scopes (i.e. weapon-mounted) are illegal in Ireland, unfortunately.

With NV gear you have to spend decent money to get anything in anyway use-able, and even then its uses are limited. When people know how to use it effectively, it can be a game changing device. Wouldn't be much good in CQB, at least in my opinion - it seems much more suited to outdoor longer engagements, and more suited again to MilSim and scenario play

ive heard the mw2 goggles are pretty poor, you and a very small viewing radius

Yep, they are illegal to mount on RIFs unfortunately.

What myself and a friend did was dismantle the MW2 NVGs and mount them on some perspex. Looks pretty decent. We use it as a hand-held thing for those VERY dark corners, or we can flip out the little screen and look around corners.

They are pretty ****ty but fun all the same! And with better quality IR leds or an actualy IR flashlight, they aren't too bad at all

I wouldn't bother with them unless it is pitch black and you are doing surveillance, OUTSIDE. I have a pair and I have two torches with IR drop in modules. I can see about 200ft away clearly enough but not in detail because of the crappy res of the screen. Your best bet is some nice branded ones.
