    Folks,

My friends car won't turn over. No faults showing on readout. fuel pump and injectors working ok. Symptoms are car was filled from half full on Sunday night. On Monday took a few attempts to start. Tuesday morning it wouldn't start.
I'm thinking dirty fuel. He fills up in the same garage all the time. Either Apple in Celbridge or another Texaco in Clonard.

    Any idea's...

If it's not turning over I would be thinking battery or starter motor, fuel should only be an issue when it is turning over but not starting.

The car is attempting to start ie, imagine turing the key from the "on" to the "start" position. It just won't bite.

If it's not turning over at all and you're sure the battery is ok then you could try giving the starter motor a little tap with a hammer - if the soleonid is stuck then that might knock it free.

    Definitely diesel in the tank?

    Diesel in tank (over half-full)
    All electrics ok.
    Pump ok.

Just to be clear I meant are you 100% certain it is diesel as opposed to petrol that the tank is half full of? This has all the symptoms of a case of misfuelling.

Just to update you. Looks like the fuel pump timing is off and the fuel pump has become faulty when car reaches runnning temprature. It seems to be a common problem with the VAG V6 Tdi's. Will let you know the final outcome.

If the timing has gone off that much that quickly do NOT attempt to start the car again until the timing belt has been inspected by a mechanic. Sounds a lot like something has slipped in there, and if the belt slips more than a tooth or two, or if it breaks, it'll crash the pistons into the valves and you'll be looking at a few grand to set it right.

Just to update you the fuel injector pump is gone. It's not a cheap part to replace/ repair. Luckily its with Bosch agent in lo:Dngford. Anything from 1000-2000 depending on parts required.
