Blackout Lining/Thermal Lining

I have just moved to into a new house and the single glazed windows are a change for me. They seem to be very draughty and the road outside is not only bright but very noisy (I'm in a downstairs room facing the road). I plan on lining the curtains with either blackout lining or/and thermal lining. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

It's a short term rental Bryan so that's not an option for me

Your best bet is to double line (called interlining) the curtains with top quality thermal lining. The main purpose of blackout lining is to keep light out rather than keep heat in - although it does to a certain extent - so i'd focus on getting lining with good thermal qualities intead.

I've used Apollo blinds on Capel Street in Dublin before. I found them very helpful and they should be able to give you some more specific advice.
