Conor in Scully automotive in Clontarf is a mod on BMW driver, and knows his BMWs - as you'd expect.

Also, metroauto in Swords are very good with BMWs. Mark there is an ex BMW tech who then went to work for Aer Lingua before going back to cars. My father in law has been using him for years on his current and previous BMWs.

Have used both of these to work on my M3 and would recommend both. Really know their stuff and reasonably priced.

I can see they have some paper under them to prevent damage, but having car parts sitting on the roof of my car would put me off.

Those are pieces of the air ducting and a plastic engine cover....weight measured in grams.

Those are sheets with a bubble wrap type backing on them too;)

Ditto - Gary just did a clutch on my M3, and Conor in Scullys is looking after a lot of work on my E30.

Courtney Motors are supposed to be good too - have never used them personally though.

You'd be coming to the right person so...

I nagged the boss to buy those bubble wrap sheets purposely so I could put those type of parts on the roof of tghe car they belonged to, when I started there they were being put on a shelf with other parts or on the floor and they where getting moved around and scuffed, mixed up etc and that was driving me nuts.

I would go ape**** if I saw you storing parts on the roof of my car - bubble wrap sheet or no bubble wrap sheet. Sounds like a pretty shonky storage system!

Paper in the boot and sticking the parts in there is a more obvious solution.

I do put parts in the boot too but most customers have a boot full of stuff and would get more grumpy if I moved all that.

Of course having a store room with a storage rack with individual spaces for each car your working on would be perfect but I have to work with what I've got. However, I would have no problem having stuff on my own car using those sheets...and I go apesh1t if someone tries to write something in the dust on my car because of the tiny marks it can leave on the paint!

I also use wing covers on any car I'm working on which is more then can be said for most...

Anyway, I fear we are wandering off topic.....

I use beemerChris from over on bmw-driver.net

He's brilliant with bimmers - recently deflapped our E39. Works out of Sandyford autos.

They are good. They did all the work on my V8 BMWs. I came across them by chance many years ago as the owner of the building I used to work in brought his brand new BMWs to them for all servicing / maintenance. That impressed me, so I brought my BMW there and I never looked back :)

How reliable BMWs are? so many problems, so many bmws goes in garages for repairs, is that because there is a lot them around, or really ... bad build quality and are unreliable ?
One my friend working for garage in my country, he is doing diagnostics, and he said, if no bmw , garage would be bankrupt long time ago.

That's because the people in your country all drive knackered old BMWs imported from Germany and the Netherlands ;):p

All garages would be closed if it wasn't for German cars....but for balance, they are also, by far, the biggest sellers so obviously there will be more of them with problems.

Also, the German stuff is a little less tolerant of poor maintenance, and most people in Ireland don't want to pay to get cars serviced properly.

And...BMW's in particular, are prone to being bought by the 'fur coat and no knickers brigade'

So in short, many German car issues wouldn't happen if they were serviced properly...even I have to admit that.

....I also only took that picture because 3 of those cars where Boards member cars. Every bay is not always filled with BMW's :)

Question was about reliability , not about source of cars in my native country.
Well in Ireland people kill cars over their negligence - timing belts, coolant, oil level, etc. Bring to garage, when car stops, and wondering, why so expensive. Been working in garage here for a year, know that stuff.

My wife want BMW, but me keep saying - than you have make insurance for 2 cars, as we goin keep lil punto, in case bmw breaks down. :P :pac:
