    Hello all

I've been lucky enough to pick up a Epiphone 335 dot plus fitted hardcase and a Levys strap for €200 from a lad I work with, selling all his gear!!(also got a big muff and small clone for €50 for both plus a boss sd-1 for €15)..lucky me
Anyways i was wondering about replacement pups for the 335 and what your recommendations would be, the tuners are grovers so the only real improvement I can see is to replace the pups and a good set up.

    Any thoughts?

The most common replacements depend on whether you want a smooth Les Paul tone (eg 57 HB) or something with a bit more bite (eg P90)

I picked up a Sheraton II with Irongear P90s installed and they really bring it to life as the stock pups were muddy on other guitars I tried beforehand.

Semihollows are a great addition to any collection!

Will P90's fit? cause if they do I'm liking that idea..:)

You can get humbucker size P90's that'll fit it fine. Otherwise you'd be looking at modding the guitar, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend...

    Try Guitar Fetish

They've a good selection, and are pretty well regarded.

If you don't wanna order from the states for some reason, try Axesrus, Axetec, or WDMusic (Kent Armstrong) in the UK.

The Irongears are the size of a standard humbucker so once the stock pups on the Dot are similar you're in business!

One thing worth considering is the additional labour that'll go into the pup installation as the work has to be done through the f holes as far as I know which leads to frayed nerves and a longer process

    I would recommend these http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/

I have installed a lot of "boutique" aftermarket pickups (Kinman, Fralin etc.) in guitars and in terms of performance the Wizards are as good as anything else out there, while costing significantly less than most of the competition.

I'll be getting this done by the lad that those my set ups so it will be his nerves that are frazzled!!

    Another Question...
I prefer the pickgaurd off I just don't like the thing that big E on it imo looks tacky!
    What do you guys think?

I had one of those, I put these on it, sounded really good with those. Seymour Duncan Hot Rod Set
I had to sell it as it were too heavy for use.

I recently took the pickguard off an epi lp, looks great without it. I say go for it.

I hate that 'E' aswell. I have a Sheraton, I just ripped the E off the pickguard. I like the pickguard on mine but I think they look without one too.
