We have 3 toilets in the house.... en suite, toilet down stairs and toilet in the shower room upstairs.... they all refill really really slowly!

Is there anything I can do to speed up the flow of water to the cistern?

    Yeah.

Sometimes the inlet valves are fitted with high pressure restrictors. Remove these. They can be located in the housing or at the base where the fitting meets the copper pipe.

Alternativly have a person good at DIY or a plumber change the 3 off them. The cost 25 for a new one. 10 euro roughly for silicone and fittings. If your paying someone then there is labour.

If you post a photo we might know if its the filter type.

Thanks a million for the reply.
will have a look at it over the weekend and see if I can find the pressure restrictors.

Did you get this resolved? I've the same problem with the toilet in my ensuite. Water just drips into it. Very annoying listening to it fill. Takes an age.

Where would I find the restrictor? Is it on the white plastic fitting inside the cistern?

I have exactly the same problem: two toilets functioned properly for 8 years but now they take about 20 mins to refill. The water flows very slowly through a white T shaped plastic device-is the where the problem lies? It only trickles in the 2 toilets: the third toilet that works properly, it gushes at a normal pace.
