I have a MF 690 which is really hard started. I have just had the engine reconditioned but still no better.

If I advanced the timing on the injector pump - would this help in anyway.

Or does anyone have any other suggestions. I know there was a thread on this last year but just wondering if any new suggestions.

    Thanks

could the starter be lazy? Ask your mf dealer is it possible to get a high speed starter for them. I know it is for the 188s, 50hxs etc but not sure about yours. It would swing it 30% faster. Does yours swing fast or slow or is it swininging slow and wearing out the battery?

is it ok to start once its first started or can it be troublesome too when its hot?

can you give more info or even video a cold start? it is blowing out white smoke when cranking? if so its probably a compression problem. Is the engine turning over fast? if so your starter / batteries ok. Injectors / Injector pump and head (valves, guide etc) are the most common things over looked during engine re-build.. and lastly have you spoken with who ever re-built the engine to get their thoughts?

before you go any further make sure the heater starter is working ok, could be burned off or connection gone loose in it, you may check it just to be sure. ( i presume is the same system as MF575)
