    Hello,
i lost my GNIB card today and to replace it cost about 150e.

this is the last year that i would need it as i have applied for Irish passport which will be given to me by next year august.

Must i get a new even though i have reported it stolen.

Do i still need it after getting my irish passport.

To the best of my knowledge, yes you do.

Once you get your approval for your naturalisation application, you will have to send back your GNIB card along with your sworn statement. I would get it if I were you, not advisable to risk further delays in your citizenship application for the sake of €150.

You say that you're getting your Irish passport in August. THat suggests to me that you have only applied for Citizenship. Even if you meet all of the criteria for citizenship, you are not by any means guaranteed an Irish passport.

Until you have an Irish passport in your hand, you will need to have a GNIB card. Make sure you get it replaced. GNIB Cards are for non-EEA nationals only.
